Confidence in leaders
Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden. Hebrews 13:17Whatever walk of life you are in you will interact with leaders. For us it is likely to be coaches, team management and selectors. This month UK Athletics has announced its list of funded athletes for the coming year – and by definition the list of non-funded athletes. Some athletes are disappointed. It is hard to have confidence in leaders who do not seem to value you. It is hard to have confidence in a coach you does not select you.
The writer to the Hebrews does not say: “have confidence in leaders who value you, have confidence in leaders who pick you”.
The thought of treating coaches and management in such a way that their work is a joy is a real challenge to us. Do we make the lives of those we work with a joy or are we a bit difficult?
The religion of Jesus Christ is a very practical one. It is less about what church services we attend and more about how we treat people.
Make an effort to have confidence in your leaders and to show them you have confidence. And make their lives a joy!
