Hannah Cockroft receives her award from SJA President, Patrick Collins

SJA Awards

Wheelchair racer, Hannah Cockroft, was named Sportswoman of the Year at the The Sports Journalists’ Association’s Annual Awards, which were first staged in 1949 and are the oldest sports awards in Britain. The winners are chosen through a ballot of the Association’s 750 memberships which includes many of the country’s leading sports writers, photographers and broadcasters. It is the first time that a disability athlete won the main award.

Stuart was delighted by Cockcroft’s win and also to see athletics well represented among the winners. Full results:
