"God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast and when I run, I feel his pleasure."

Hospitality

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2

How do you react when a new player comes to your club –are you welcoming or do you see them as a treat? They say that one aspect of professional sport is that your best friend is after your job! When you see a newcomer arrive in the club who is an obvious rival for your position, it is natural to feel anxious. Literally your livelihood and next contract can be at stake.

The Bible says we are to be hospitable. We are to be welcoming, caring. We are to look out for people. I remember hearing of a Christian 16 year old who had joined a Premier League Club. I mentioned this to an established Christian first team player, who sought out the newcomer and even invited him to his home. (Normally the hierarchy would have meant that there was no contact between the first team and academy).

The action made an immense impact on the young player and helped him settle in. The writer to the Hebrews would have approved and seen it as practical Christian hospitality.

Question: Is there someone I could encourage and welcome today?
